Cors strike and the omega 8000 version 4

I haven’t taken this coil on a real hunt yet as I haven’t had time. I have tried it on my 8” quarter and penny targets in my yard. I have listened at a couple parks on lunch break. Didn’t dig anything, just ground balancing and looking for repeatable signals. My initial impressions are poor.

It’s a great looking and feeling coil. Good quality for sure.

It could just be the omega but it’s still very chatty. Above 50 sens in most places so far and it’s noisy. I’ve run it at 90 and it does quiet when in motion.

Much like the ultimate 13 on my t2 it ground grabs at a lower than expected value. It should be 58 here and it likes to go to the low 40s. In disc mode, gg is unusable at any sens. Overload sound. In AM no issue.

I CAN NOT GET CLEAR AUDIO ON MY 8” TARGETS!!! Super disappointing. I then buried a quarter at 8” in a park. There was some trash around, but at max sens, still tough to get a repeatable high tone in d3. D2 does better. D4 just a scratch. I’m pissed. I need this setup to smack 10” coins.

I’m going to try it on the g2 and see what’s up.
It’s listed as for all Greek/g2 machines but says omega 8500. Could this be an issue? I thought 8000/8500 coils are the same.

I need to do a real hunt with it and see what happens. So far in minimal tests and a couple real digs that gave solid dime and quarter signals from 4 ways and pinpointed at 3 and 5 inches respectively. They were each trash at 8+”. I know it can hit large objects ok it seems, but the audio is garbage so far. My 8” quarter was throwing in iron and mid tones like crazy. Stupid.

I have a cors shrew that I haven’t mounted yet. Hope it’s a sweetheart unlike this strike at the moment. I will give the strike several hours before i decide.

i can’t seem to run this coil much over 50-60 sens anywhere I go without unworkable chatter. If I do crank it up, I have to use d1 to get a 9” fresh buried quarter in a small field with no emi. With the 10x5 i can run wide open here also the t2 will run wide open here. Is this coil just a poor match for the omega? It’s going on the g2 next to see how it acts. And can it get a quarter at 9” On that machine, somthing I know it cannot do with the 10x5, Something the t2 will do on 60 sens with a 10x5.... it does seem to air test ok though. But then every signal is jumpy and hardly repeatable once to the dirt. Pin point seems off center a bit as well. I notched everything out to zinc and it will just scratch a mid tone with high blips in d3. If I turn the sens down to 70, no tone amidst the chatter but it does begin to ID it. FRUSTRATION. I have dug measured 7” coins so far with this machine with a 10x5, I believe that’s out of the question with this 12x13. I even went to an area I know has many trash targets, just to hear it and get repeatable sound, mostly quiet where I know things are

Just put it on the g2. It will smack the 8” quarter and penny in my yard. No doubt. Decent ID and all. That target would have been a whisper at most to the g2 with the 10x5 I use. It can also run max sens and be reasonably stable. I believe it’s a keeper just for that machine. Maybe it’s calibrated to a 8500?

I put the 10x5 back on the omega and it gives clear audio at 70 sens on the 8” quarter and penny in all tone settings. The strike must not be intended for an 8000. What was the stock coil on an 8000? A 11” dd or 10” concentric? Anyone have an aftermarket coil working well on theirs?

I think the g2 will be great with this coil however. It’s far deeper.
