could anyone compare the f75 and withes mxt for noise and depth etc thanks

The f-75 will I.d. deeper that the mxt. Ive found the mxt calls deep targets iron when there actually not. The f-75 calls deeper targets that are good as good.

this is in my ground

good luck

Just trying to get a comparison that i can relate to.Have mxt idx ace 250.Used other machines. Was thinking minelab SE or iam now looking at this f 75 and trying to get more information. Thanks for your reply.

With a 5x10" DD on the MXT and the stock coil on the F75, which one gets the crown for smallest/deepest nugget? With the MXT and 5x10" I got down to 1/3 grain.. how bout the F75? BTW, I no longer own the MXT, so I'm not just 'trolling'. ..Willy.

HI Willy,

When I had the MXT I did not get the opportunity to make it out west for some prospecting. Did you find that the lack of a manual GB control to be detrimental? The F-75 lacks auto tracking but has the Fast Grab GB feature. What is your preference, Auto Track, manual GB or having both in one unit?

Thanks is advance
Tom

The reason being that, while autotracking is great to have, sometimes it can be a real pain. I've noticed in both the XTerra70, MXT, and Goldstrike that going over a severe change will throw the tracking out of whack (the MXT was least affected of the 3) and one had to stop and re balance. Also, there's a slight drop in sensitivity when tracking. Personally, I'd rather have both tracking and manual GB in one unit, but something like the 'fast grab' feature can be good enough. One thing I didn't like about the MXT was that there was no option for offsetting the GB, which can be done with a manual GB or some programmable ones. Another thing that's rarely mentioned re. prospecting is running in disc. mode and at 0 disc. and tone ID. In areas covered with nasty hotrocks it can save a lot of time. Sure, some detectors have all-metal VID, but I don't want to spend my time looking at the meter. That's where having a detector with a very sensitive disc. mode is a bonus. Both the MXT and X70 were very good in this regard. ...Willy.

Thanks Willy! I have only had experience with the Goldmaster 4B and the manual GB did come in handy for handling hot rocks. I read a post by Reg Sniff recently where he made reference to a technique for unmasking nuggets hidden under/beside hot rocks by manually offsetting the GB using a method I had never heard of before. I can't remember if it was on a US board or an OZ forum.

Yeah, you can balance to the hotrock, but that can take time and leave the detector unbalanced re. the surrounding soil matrix. If in an area with few hotrocks, it's worth doing. But in one were there are many thousands (millions) and at least 3 different types, a person could be GB'ing all day.. not fun. That's why I like using the disc. channel in some areas; I can ID most iron and hotrocks, though some tiny gold will be lost. The Goldstrike can supposedly auto-GB on a hotrock to find the nugget underneath (they claim it won't track out the nugget), but often needs to be GB'ed afterwards. ..Willy.
