read this before you buy.............http://www.minelab.com/usa/treasure-talk/counterfeit-minelab-metal-detectors this is from may 2010 and are still out there.
 
as long as you buy from a good dealer i don't think there is a problem. now if you buy from ebay you may want to be careful.
 
Thank god there is not enough money to be made counterfeiting the Xterra!!!! Seriously, if I were to buy a $3,000- $5,000 detector, I would buy it from a dealer that I know.
