Couple Little Silver Rings with the V3i

I went out today for a very short hunt at a pounded out park. I ran in 2.5 khz to see if anything would turn up. My soil reads around - 94, so I thought this might pull out some deep silver that others have missed. I was also using the new 13 inch Ultimate coil from Whites. Amazing how smooth that one runs. I used to have problems with EMI in that frequency at this particular location. Any way, it turned out to be a fun little hunt. It's supposed to snow here tonight. I'm glad I was able to get out today :)

Howdy MrBranton33--

It's always nice to pull some goodies out of a "pounded out" site. Congratulations on your 2 nice rings!

I have a 13" Ultimate that I purchased primarily for relic hunting. I have not yet had the chance to swing it at my relic site but that day is coming soon. I was wondering what sensitivity settings, filters, recovery delay settings that you found to be most effective? Again, congratulations on your good finds. Best of luck and...

Thank you. This particular hunt I was experimenting with 2.5 khz. I was running RX 6, Disc 77, 5 Band Pass filter, and a recovery delay of 50. I was using a modified Hi Pro program as the initial platform. The sensitivity may seem a bit low, but It was actually running pretty hot. I had to sweep fairly slow, about 3 seconds from side to side. Today I went back and tried again with the 7.5 khz frequency, and bumped up the filter to the 7.5, Rx 10 and Disc 80. The ground was wet, and this field is heavily fertilized, but I was able to cover the ground at at a much faster pace. I ended up finding another silver ring, a couple of deep copper pennies, around 7 inches, and a strange old cap of some kind at about 9 inches. The 13 inch coil seems to be much more stable than the D2 coil. I've never been able to run it in 2.5 khz at that particular spot without greatly decreasing the sensitivity, due to EMI. In three frequency I've been able to really push it well beyond the settings I had used previously with the D2. I didn't expect that kind of difference, and am very happy I purchased the Ultimate coil.

Thank you MrBranton33 for your detailed account of your settings on your last 2 hunts with the 13" coil. At this relic site I am looking for depth. In the past, using the D2 coil in 3 frequency, I have dug eagle cuff buttons at 10 inches. I believe that there may be more goodies a bit deeper.Your input gives me a starting point in my attempt to maximize performance when using this coil. Thanks again. Best of luck and...

I'd say you will find some more deep targets. That coil really does make a difference, and with all the power going to a single frequency, it can really punch down there. Good luck :)
