Couple of "tonal quality" questions.......

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Does the WS 4"s (back phones) and the WS 5's have the same tonal quality?---If not which one is the best in that regard?-------How about the WS 5's versus the Vance muffs--which one of those has the best tonal quality?-------I realize answers can be somewhat varied, depending on a persons hearing, etc.-----but-----what is your answers to those questions?----------Thanks, Del

I personally liked the WS5 tone much better than the WS4's. As far as the Vance Muffs vs WS5's I can't really say as I didn't have both at the same time to compare.

I'd say tonal quality of the WS5s and Vance phones are about the same , however if you are able to use the Vance phones you will have the WS4 remote/receiver which is a better option IMO than the WS5 because of the options it allows you. The WS5s are more comfortable to wear than the Vance phones. I think it's unfair to compare the backphones with either since they are not full coverage and you have ambient noise to consider. The WS5s have a much larger readout on the receiver which is nice if you plan on using that instead of the remote.

hi in the uk the back phones are most popular , I have used both ws5 and ws3 and have found the ws5 tones far more informative, this is my reason the backphones need to be on high volume which makes every signal sound sharp, out side noise forces you to turn them up, the ws5 phones can be used on low volume which produce a nice soft tone variation, the deus is a machine which can only be truly apprecieated when you get to no the tones.Be aware this machine can give a small iron sound on deep silver the ws5 will give you the edge on these targets hope this helps :ukflag:

I prefer the WS5 headphones over the backphones, the main reason is they not only sound slightly better but cut out alot of the external sounds as well,i would agree that the most popular ones over here in the UK are the WS4 backphones but its a personal choice i guess for me full headphones win all the time.

Must admit that the xp wired backphones are super value for the money and great for most of my other machines that i use especially when its very hot.
