Couple of you guys with the new Whites V3...

Like to know what the distance is on an air test of a quarter with the power set at mid range on the V3. My XLT will pick up a quarter at 13 inches in an air test with a power setting of 2 with the 950 coil. If the V3 can't blow that outta the water with at least 3 inches more, then I'm not getting one. Air test is a good indicator of potential power and effectiveness.

I will give it a test but I dont think the V-3 will do that much as I never have had a detector that would air test 13 inches on a quarter---We will see tomorrow D.W.

I never liked the XLT or the DFX---I really liked the MXT and now that I have the V-3 I like it the best---I have been getting coins at 10 inches---I never have owned any Minelabs but I understand they will beat that easily But they are Arm Killers and thats why I have never bought one !

As near as I could tell I was getting 13 inches on a Quarter with the Gain down a low as it would go (1) using the stock 10 in. coil that came with it I was still getting interference---My street is loaded with Electric Interference So I will have to go some where that its normal to give it a try---That's why I said I would try it on Sun. As I always have had a problem trying to hunt my yard---I did not have the Coil booster on as that only made it worse---When you can use it it will increase the depth you will get---No other detector has that feature that I know of---It almost doubles the gain to the coil BUT It does not double the depth---I wish they has made it adjustable then you could work it better---Tomorrow I am going to Portland Or. to hunt some areas between the street and the sidewalk--Two weeks ago I got a silver Quarter (1943) doing that---I got a hand full of coins but the rest were Clad---I would like sometime to hunt the Red Soil back East with it---I will see what happens Tomorrow !

hunt for surface coins anyways so my coil is on the ground. I'll take on a Whites machine any day with my Explorer. I've used all of them. No comparison. :starwars:

and can pick up a quarter about 13-14 inches in air with a couple programs that I use, one program I use once in a while, but not too often, is called a PreAmp 15 program, got it off some detecting site few years ago, modified it a little, too noisely, but had my best day ever with that program, finding about 34 wheat pennies in one small yard and some old silver. :)
