Cracker Jack

MonDak

New member
I've been working a site that myself and others before me have worked over pretty good, but still find
an occasional keeper. When I dug the cracker jack token I wondered what it was doing here in this
old site. But after doing some reading, I found that the cracker jack name was trademarked in 1896
and these presidential coins were made in 1933. The handle says FRANCES on the right hand side
and sterling on the left hand side. The merc is 1917s and the cent is 1919. The old numbered miners
tags, I find quite a few of.

Those are some nice finds MonDak.....WTG.:detecting:
I am particularly fond of the Cracker Jack token.
Are they aluminum like some of the other tokens
that we find here in Oregon? Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Nice finds .

Found the same cracker jack token 2 years ago at an old camp.

See this collectors site.: http://www.crackerjackcollectors.com/cjcaprizes.htm

To join the mystery club you would send in your presidental token back to cracker jack company and they would stanp "Cancelled" on the back of the token and send it back to you. If you found a token with cancelled on the back it's worth more.

John-Maryland is right. The Cracker Jack tokens with "cancelled" on the back are much more collectible. The Cracker Jack presidential token series were issued around 1933-34. I see the uncancelled ones at coin and token shows going for less than a dollar up to a few dollars with cancelled ones going for 5-10 times that much, sometimes more. That coal company tag is really neat too. According to my coal scrip (company tokens used by the miners) references, there was a Carney Coal Co, in Sheridan WY and a Carney Cherokee Coal Co. in Mulberry, KS. The KS place issued coal scrip that is quite scarce and collectible. Keep up the good work and happy hunting.
