crazy penny?

I have the 705 and when I find a penny I have a hard time pinpointing it..it seems to move all over the place? Any ideas why...thanks for any help u might all be...

They lie about depth as well.
Zinc pennies do it as they dissolve. When the copper coating is damaged, the zinc leaches into the surrounding soil. Aside from the jumpy ID, their nasty tonal quality often gives them away.

Yep, what longhair said. When I get a pre 1982 copper lincoln the 705 with the digger or the 5x10 will ID and pinpoint them spot on. The propointer then fetches them strait down in the hole. The zincers are the stinkers... HH
