Cross Grid Produces Triple Silver And Nickel Trifecta

Today I went back to an old Veterans meeting ground that gave up several old coins last week. I hunted with the F75 in All Metal Mode just as I did last week. I hunted the same exact low trash area but changed my hunting pattern by 90 degrees. By doing this and listening for tone numbers that rang up from the mid 50's to low 70's,I was able to pick up coins in the 7-9 inch range that I missed last week. Most of the Wheats had jumpy numbers in the 58 to 68 range. One of the green Wheats would only hit at a high of 59 and I was surprised it was a wheat when I dug It. The Nicklels were ringing up in the low 30's up to about 40 and I only dug when the Confidence Meter peaked around 32-34. The V Nickel hit at 34 and the Buffalo had high confidence at 32 dead on. One signal was bouncing around in the 50's and every once in a while the number would jump to 72. I decided to dig it and was happy to find a 1919 Merc with a nail on it. You can see a dark spot that the nail caused around the date area. The F75 ran stable in the All Metal Mode with Sensitivity set at 88 and by Fast Grab ground balancing every so often. It was a pleasant hunt and I didn't really dig a lot of trash...Thanks for looking

That's some good hunting miserman. Nice on the nickel trifecta. I have always found the F 75 to be good in and around nails. Is it blind to some targets? maybe, but I personally dig good targets in the same holes as nails and other trash. Now, how did you get those nickels looking so good? Mine are always red/brown, but I don't do anything with them. HH jim tn

Thanks for the comments jim tn. The nickels can be cleaned by soaking them in a small dish with vinegar. While soaking ,sprinkle salt on top of the nickels and let them set about an hour. The vinegar will take on a blue color when the nickels are ready to take out and rub the stains off. (should come right off) Be sure to use plenty of salt. If you soak a dug Buffalo this way that is dateless, the date will appear after several hours of soaking. I have NEVER found a dateless Buffalo that I didn't get a date to show by using this method. The nickles will come out with a somewhat "etched" look but I feel it makes them better than with the red /brown dirty look. If you come across a stubborn Buffalo that doesn't want to give up it's date,give it more salt and let it soak overnight.
 
I am pretty sure you are getting a lot of hunters taking notice on how well you are doing, me for sure.

I was wondering again LOL, when your are running Motion All Metal are you running it in DE or BP?
After reading your thread from a week or so ago I have been studying the manual and noticed I can carry over the DE speed or BP's slower speed into Motion All Metal.

Very nice results. Few people mention cross grid patterns and it can do wonders in trashy areas.

Thanks Ron in WV for your comments. I don't use the BP much because of the increase of high sensitivity noise and the resulting slow response/sweep speed. Therefore my Disc. side of the menu is always in DE. This makes it nice if for some reason you want to change from All Metal to Disc,you can hit Menu Button and dial the Settings Knob straight over from All Metal to Disc. (The Sensitivity settings in Disc and All Metal are separate from each other)

Well I have been a big fan of the BP processor and if I was setting here looking at a hand full of silver I would tell you that BP is the way to go.LOL You keep doing what you are doing and I will play catch up and see what I can do with DE.

You have also got me thinking about using some of my small coils in DE and heading for the trashy areas that have just about stopped giving up silver in BP. You may have breathed new life into my old detector. My F75 has been in the closet since most of last summer and I have been using another new detector.

Thank you for sharing what and how you are doing.

Ron in WV, Since reading your comment about DE and BP carrying over to the Motion All Metal Mode,I have experimented with this and you are correct. If you are in BP process on the Disc side and switch over to Motion All Metal it will be more sensitive and give more false signals while running In the All Metal. This takes away the "smooth running" effect that I like about the All Metal Mode. I will be sure to have the process in DE when I switch to All Metal. Thanks for the heads up on this........ Guys, if you don't, grid any curb strips you may hunt, too. Most of us are prone to search them length wise (parallel) as most are not very wide and we seldom think about searching them cross ways. I can pretty much guarantee you will come up with a few more coins. I started using this method a few days ago on a demo site with my F 75 and 5" coil and have thus far pulled 4 silver dimes and a 62 Washington quarter along with several wheat cents, numerous Mem. and clad coins. Whether its going cross ways or the smaller coil or just a combination of each, my buddy and I are amazed how many good targets still remain. Isn't this a grand hobby? :) HH jim tn
