Crossfire Vs. Crossfire II

I have an older GTA500 Ultra with a bad coil and am going to replace it. Does anyone know if the Crossfire II is a compatible replacement coil for the older Crossfire? Are the connector plugs the same (5-pin)? They both are running at 7.0 Khz and 7.2 Khz!

yours should be the 5 pin "X" connector. The Crossfire II has the 5 pin "horseshoe" connector. The connectors can be replaced. Unless your coil is abused in some way, Garrett will replace it free but it will cost you shipping to them. Contact Mary at Garrett. maryp@garrett.com. The woman is a legend in her own time.

The crossfire II is only for the new detectors like the 550 or 1250 ,etc.

Bought two Garrett's, GTA500 & Freedom CDC, back in the mid 80's when I was stationed in Japan. When they arrived one has a bad coil and I have been swapping the one good coil between the two for the past eighteen years. I've sold the Freedom CDC and now have no coil for the GTA500. I took the bad coil apart to see how it was constructed about a month ago and threw it away. Boy do I feel "dumb" about now! <img src="/metal/html/blush.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":redface">
