Cscope CS4PI

Hello folk,
I'd like to know if this cheap P.I. has some sort of iron recognition, I mean if, with hard and long work, You could understand sounds and so on (iron=double beep).
All the best,
Ale

Hi Ale,

If you are the same guy that also posts on the TDI tech forum, you can get an idea of what to expect by taking your TDI and turning off the ground balance. This will make the TDI a plain PI which will be much like the CS 4 but will be higher power.

I think you will find it will be much more difficult to determine iron with the CS 4.

Although I have not tried the CS 4, I do own the older CS 6, which I suspect is similar.

Thank You for reply, Reg.
Yes, I'm the same guy :)
After TDI I turned to the P.I. side and would like to try CS4PI, because is cheap.
All the best,
Ale

I have very high mineralized ground all around and cannot use my TDI with GEB off.
Do you think that will be possible to use the CS4PI that has not a ground balancing system?
Take r,
Ale

Hi Ale,

You are going to run into a similar ground signal problem with the CS 4 because it doesn't have any ground balance system. You could turn the delay up on the TDI and see just where it has to be before you can use it and then you will have an idea of what to expect with the CS 4 and what you may have to do..

Now, the CS 4 might not be quite as bad as the TDI with no ground balance but it will be close. In other words, you will be fighting the ground mineralization.

Now, the later versions of the Goldquest don't have a ground balance system either, but they can use a DD coil and that helps quite a bit. Also, the GQ has a dual filter built in that also reduces the ground signal. So, this PI can be used easier than many that don't have any form of ground balance. However, even with a DD coil and the dual filter, there will be some ground signal to contend with. Just how much depends upon the ground itself.

Thank You again Reg! I think I'll pass and start to looking for good used Eric Foster Goldquest.
All the best.

I have a CS4PI and Infinium.

I find the CS4 to be a no BS machine that is quite sensitive, gets very good depth and is hot on gold and silver and not so hot on bobbypins and small iron.

No Ground balance is necessary because the Pulse Delay is set up for Saltwater beaches.

It is for the saltwater beaches where it performs very well. It is noisy in iron mineralised ground.

You can use this machine in non mineralised soil conditions.

the PPS control can be used to discriminate out iron to a limited degree by setting it to the low pps ranges (you need to experiment here a bit)

This detector is well built and seems to be good value for money.
