Craig left Alabama at 3 in the morning and got here yesterday at 3 in the afternoon ~ just in time to say "Hi" and "Bye" to my wife and family as they were leaving out the door for gymnast class. So there wasn't anything else to do but go detecting. Bubba transferred his gear to my truck and off to the relic fields we went. Unfortunately, this is the only picture of Bubba I got. I took it yesterday, but forgot my camera today. I thought it was a good stop action shot because I caught him in the mid-plug... if you look closely, you can see the plug on the ground. Cooool. We started detecting at 4:00; by 6:30 I had 6 bullets and a neat little Union Cavalry cuff button. I met up with Bubba and he had 2 bullets. By 7:30 I had 9 bullets and a cuff button; I checked in with Bubba, he still had 2 bullets. Well folks, all I can tell ya is that I was swinging a Whites, and he was heaving a Minelab around... 'nuff said.

The usual gawkers came around (whatcha doing, huh?).

Here is the close-up of the Union cavalry cuff button. I can see a little gold gild still left on it, ended up being about 20%.

This morning at 8:00 Bubba showed up for breakfast of pancakes, ham, and eggs. We sat around and talked for a while and Sharon and he argued about who has the most years in college (just kidding). Craig could only hunt until 1:30 today and had to take off for Culpeper. We got detecting a little after 9:30; by 11:30 I had 9 bullets. I checked in on Bubba... he had 2 bullets. So I took him back to where I had found a few, and he managed another one. He just had the little coil on today but he should have had the big coil as the bullets are deep. But you know, he kept telling me how great the Minelab was and yada, yada, yada... who was I to argue
. Actually I think he was using the little coil today because the big one got to him yesterday *snicker snicker*! But I have to tell you, he got even with me. You know, I hate to get my picture taken, and I'm down in an awkward position digging a hole, and I look up and he's standing there with a camera to his face. I thought he was taking a picture... but oh no. He's taking a video. I think if he puts that video on the forum, you will hear me saying in the video something to the effect of "Bubba, if you ever want to come detecting here again, you will NOT put that video on the forum!" I don't know if it's going to do any good or not. Hopefully he'll read this post before he considers putting that video on the forum when he gets back.
Well, Bubba got 5 bullets anyway. And like I always say, beats a jab in the eye with a sharp stick. I like Bubba, he's a great guy even if he does speak in broken English.
