16 bullets; 5 found at one site, 11 dug at another site in the same hole. While I was digging that 11, there was this iron rod in my way; I was trying to pinpoint the bullets in the hole and kept getting a response on the iron rod that was straddled across my hole about 4" deep; I grabbed it and yanked it out of the ground, felt it break off the other end and tossed it to the side, figuring it was a piece of old road trash. While getting the last few bullets out of the hole I came upon another section of the same rod, pulled that out of the ground, and realized I had just ripped in half a Civil War ram rod that was laying with the 11 bullets. Yikes. I'm going to clean it up and try to JB Weld it back into place at least for display purposes. Next time I see a rusted rod in the ground about 3/8" thick, I'll be more careful.

I found the bullets while waiting for Chris to show up as he had gotten permission to hunt an old homestead site deep in the woods that loggers had told him about. Everything else in these pictures I found at the home site. Unfortunately I forgot my camera today so you just get the cleaned up version of the relics. I found a matching set of a woman's sash buckle, the small buckle and large buckle have the same design and basic shape. Chain looking thing is a brass curb bit chain (horse bit chain).

This is hard to see, but it's a 3 dimensional deer head pendant with antlers.

Couple other what nots.

The last picture, second bullet from the left, is a bullet that's been carved on by a soldier. The bottom's been sliced off and the top has been whittled into kind of a point. The little bullet on the left is a Civil War 44 caliber pistol bullet.
Thanks for looking,
