I went through Gordonsville, VA, a place where the Confederates camped for the entire winter one year. Then I went by the Wilderness Civil War battle park; shortly after that I passed Chancellorsville Civil War battle park. Then I rolled into Fredericksburg, the site of another large Civil War battle. After driving around in tons of traffic I finally found the small Civil War relic/antique shop. I had been talking to the guy on the phone about this wreath (which are really hard to find and very expensive). Picture below is the wreath he was selling at his shop, it was supposedly dug in Culpeper, VA.

In the picture below, I have attached the wreath to the CS tongue I found; the color is close, but I don't know... the wreath just doesn't have that "gnarly" look of a dug 145 year old relic ~ but I'm no expert. The wreath has been coated with Vaseline witch gives it a slightly smother and greener appearance. The guy said he would guarantee it authentic, and it has been checked out by so called authorities and given the nod. But it's a lot of money for a small piece of brass that is only half of something. In fact, he had a very nice Harper's Ferry 1840's musket for sale that (see photo below the buckle) I could have bought for just $300 more than what he was asking for the wreath! For now, I will search the area where I found the CS tongue; fairy book ending, I find the wreath and live happily ever after. He ask me 3 times If I would be willing to sell him the CS tongue.
