Curious where everyone searches, or wants to search. :detecting::ban:

Greetings all.

I'm am curious on where everyone searches or thinks about searching.
What are your favorites sites?
How much time in a given area do you search?
Anyone do any night hunting?
How about after a rain. I hear MT's can penetrate deeper when the ground is wet.

I guess if everyone kinda shares their experiences and sites to hunt, all of us could benefit and broaden our search areas.

I will start.

I haven't hunted all these yet, but plan to sooner or later.

Schools, churches, campgrounds, public swimming pool areas, walking/bicycle paths, winter sliding areas, (best to do that first thing in the spring)
Wooded areas where people have had parties, or played volleyball, football etc...
Torn down buildings in downtown St. Paul MN. And farmlands.

These are some of mine. I would love to find many more.

Oh. And what was the deepest find you retrieved?

I plan on asking the warden of the correctional facility where I work for permission to search some unoccupied officers housing units. They were built in the 40's and hopefully have some silver in the yards.

Although I am not a Bounty Hunter swinger, I do swing a couple of First Texas detectors so if no one minds, I'll chime in on this topic. For the older varieties of coins, old fairgrounds are my single most favorite sites to hunt. When traveling, be it when I was working, or vacationing in different areas, I make and made it a point to see if one was and is close enough to give it a shot. Next would be old home sites and farm yards and homesteads. More often then not, however, I can be found detecting old parks and old school yards. These latter two spots are the most readily available. I'll hunt any spot, however, that has enough age to have the potiential for silver and other older varieties of coins. I don't track my hunting time, but I have several hundred hours in on two or three...and still continue to hunt on them from time to time and occasionally still dig a silver. My deepest coin recovery was a Standing Liberty half at a measured 12" and a quarter at very close to the same. Both with my F 75. Ron's correctional facility sounds good. Hope you get permission, there is some silver there. HH jim tn

Thanks for posting.
It's always a pleasure to have a fellow MT swinger post here even if you don't use a BH. Doesn't matter what MT kind anyone has. We are all striving for the same goal.
So, thanks again. And happy hunting. :detecting:

I live in Manchester, NH, founded back in the 1700s. How do I find the history of it's begginnings, and permisions to go there? Is there a "best" proccess for that?

Tom

You can always google your city for it's history...try "City history" in your search, or "yourcity and 1800"...Getting permission is a little trickier...If you cannot find an owner of a property, it is best to go to your city or county tax offices and try to look up tac records for the property...the ax payer should be listed in the records.
