So what did you guys do this winter in areas were the ground froze up, to keep from going bonkers ? I did some ice fishing, a bit of winter day camping and put out some chokers for the easter bunnies.

WTG! I love day camping in the cold months too. The smell of the smoke, the exceptional taste of the food cooked on a fire and the good night sleep you get. Great photos...... too.

What a great day! :clapping:Those fuzzybutts running the snow are great snaring! Do you snare any fur bearing quadrupeds? Like fox or yotes? I used to do that a lot, plus beaver through the ice was always an easy way of making a little money...I got a pile of snares around here somewhere.

Always wanted to do some ice fishing. But live in SCarolina.Hardly ever see snow.Almost spring. Then you can give those stinking boots a brake. :O

Those perch look mighty tasty! I haven't been ice fishing in years, although many friends of mine have shacks. I participated in a sapphire hunt with the local rock club last week, that was pretty fun, but its killing me not to detect. Hopefully only one more month to go!

Just got in from ice fishing this morning on northern Lake Champlain. Got skunked but it is great to be out! The ground is hard as a rock now; even took my Lesche digger and attempted to dig (as a test) by tapping it with a sledge hammer. While bent over and tapping it, I realized how addicted I am to this hobby. I managed to tap down one half inch. My wife thinks it's time for an intervention.

No quads. I was thinking about trying yotes but the locals have the area farmers locked in for themselves. I found this one late last fall that got some tin in his arse on the highway. I was going to skin it as a first time experience\experiment. But it was simply crawling with fleas. I have learned since to put it in a garbage bag and spray it with Raid, then seal up. Yotes are kind of periferal for me, maybe one day.

That Sapphire hunt sounds fascinating. At one time I was interested in looking for Ammonites ? I forget what they are called or how to spell it. Anyway they are huge petrified snails that became semi precious and are used in jewelry. They are supposed to be available in the extreme south west of the province.

:heh: Jeez I'm likely looking at a month or two yet before I can dig. But thanks to John Edmonton I clued in to snow digging. I find that after leaving the school yards alone for the winter, the little munchkins drop enough to make it fun.

Dirt fishing or fish fishing are two great hobbies. I don't do as much of the first as I want to and haven't done any of the latter for many moons. If I could get somebody to look after my elderly Mama, I might try a weekend camping and fishing trip this spring. The crappie are starting to bite in this area as of about a month ago. I saw 30-40 boats on the water fishing. Anytime you're outside, it's good to me. HH.
