A CZ3D 1021 is a 3D with the serial number starting with 1021. These were made at the Los Banos site prior to moving to another facility. The 1021's apparently were made following a time proven specific process and testing, and when the site was moved and the newer 3D's were made, at first these did not follow that process, hence not being as deep or 'hot' ( at least that is what I have read via the forums).

The process, what I have read, is now back to the original way. The 1021's are the ones where Tom D can tune to make them optimal.

Bottom line is, if you get any 3D, the average depth on a clad dime in discriminate mode, should be in the 9-10 inch range. Anything less and the unit can be considered sub-par.

NOTE ;

Some of the 1121 serial numbers were also made in Los Banos & were as good as the 1021's.

Vice versa as some not made in Los Banos were deep seekers also...All depended on the tuning....
Speaking from experience as have used both and both got the same depth...

Tom can tune NON 1021's too. My Tom tuned non 1021 is @ 10.4" on dime.
