CZ-5 Discriminate pot malfunction

straker

Active member
I bought a used Fisher CZ-5 and noticed that the discrimination knob...no matter where i set it...still detects all the metals it's supposed to disc out and the 'auto tune' setting isn't functioning like it should. I figure it's a trip to Keith Wills or Felix. Has this ever happened to yours? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :help:

I'm sure you did the obvious and checked that the set screw was tight and knob properly positioned. Response time is very good going through Felix. Have not had what you describe happen to my CZs so far.

Could be just a pot malfunction.

Could also be someone who thought they were clever tried to monkey with the many internal adjustment pots.
I once got a CZ-70 that had been monkeyed with like that .... very irritating.
(Unless you're NASA Tom, that never ends well.)

...in which either case, a trip to Felix is in order.
Goo Luck,
mike

Pardon the pun but I had a loose knob. I fixed it by pushing it on a bit tighter once I figured out where the correct setting was. Have to be careful not to pull out the knob when turning.
