CZ-7a Pro

I have a CZ-7a Pro that has seen quite a bit of use although it still functions flawlessly.. I have had it for 3 years and am considering replacing it..Would you replace the CZ-7a Pro with something like the CZ-70 pro or save your money and continue to use the 7a Pro? I was even considering a Explorer II Pro, although I have never used anything but Fisher. Thanks!!

Why replace it if it works? You know the machine. That is a really good box you have, I'm considering buying a CZ7. Maybe add a new coil or something to enhance it instead of replacing it. HH, Mike

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Get yourself one or more of the accessory coils for different areas. If you do, also get the lower- and middle-stem extensions. That will make switching coils a whole lot faster.
I've had a CZ-5 now for 4 1/2 years, and let me tell you, I wouldn't give it up for anything. It still teaches me a few things, and has really found a lot of nice stuff.
The only detector I've purchased since my CZ-5 is my CZ-20, because I didn't want to risk dunking my 5's control-box when I went water-hunting.

Thanks for the input guys! I think i'll hold on to the 7a Pro.. Happy Hunting!

Does your CZ have the 8" coil? If so, get a 10.5" coil for it. Other than that, as the others have said, if it works there's no reason to replace it with a CZ-70, it's the same machine. The CZ-70 just has an extra tone. I'll save you the trouble with a tip: Dig the "Square Tab" signals. There you go...you now have a CZ-70 Pro. (I have one, great machine...my buddy has a CZ-7a Pro...great machine)

Will I still hear relics with the CZ7A without the 4th relic tone of the CZ70? I would assume it would say these brass and miscellaneous metal relics are made of would come up as trash or the square tab icon? I'm in Germany and prefer relic hunting. We have aluminium coins, thin silver hammered coins that sound often like trash, finds like these for example is why I usually dig almost everything. I have a White's XLT and need a machine that will get more depth especially in the forests, looking at buying a CZ7A now. Any oppinion would be appreciated. Thanks and HH, Mike

to tell ya the truth, I cant even distinquish it very well. Mid tones sound same to me. but sure the Cz-7a is a GRATE relic hunter! thats what I use it for. Just remember not to really pay attention to the icons. your right alotta yur relics will read as tabs or zinc 1 cent. as U know us relic hunters dig it all. i dont even look at the meter no more. i only notch iron & DIG! i did anything repeatable. Just notch out iron & away U go! Prepare to dig sum DEEP holes! oh yea, i use the big 10.5 coil for relics. ya might wanna get 1 a those to. LOU

just wanted to make sure what I understood. Then I'm confident this machine will do well for me and it will be put through an abusive test. I'm a little on the extreme side of hunting but have shyed away from some of that because I know my XLT isn't getting the depth I need, forest hunts are a waste of time knowing I barely penetrate the forest floor through the foliage. The XLT is a good machine but I want a little more. I grew up in Ohio, just south of Canton. Thanks for the info and HH, Mike

The CZ will give you the power to punch down DEEP into the forest floor. We regularly dig relics a foot deep in the woods with our CZ's...my CZ-70 and my buddy's CZ-7a Pro. Most of your relics will be in the square tab or zinc penny range and often bounce between the two. And the silver will usually be high coin of course. I don't think there's a better machine for what you want to do.
