Damage at little coil of the XP Deus , anyone the same problem?

vatos

New member
Hi ,

I just bought a XP Deus from another person.
The little coil is from 10 November 2012
The big coil is from 5 may 2011

I really like the detector.
Only last week i was cleaning the little coil, after removing the protective cover i discovered some damage beneath the coil.
Now if you rub the coil the damage is getting more and more..
Does anyone had the same problem?

Hope my English is understandable!

Cheers Vatos

That looks to me like the grey epoxy coating on the bottom of the coil is starting to peel off. It should not affect the performance of the coil, but could affect the waterproof ability of the coil if you get it wet. You could re-coat it yourself or check with XP Deus to see if they would cover it under warranty (if it's still under warranty).

It looks that previous owner has painted coil black and that paint is now peeling off. Originally coil is gray underneath.

Now that you mentioned that, I looked at the picture again and would agree with you.

A lot of people spray truck bed liner on their coils instead of using covers. However with the deus needing the cover to make the charging clip hold tight I wouldn't apply it too thick.
But ya check on warranty first, mine is just a suggestion.

Yup it looks like a bed liner job. Some do it to use the coil in the sand. Coil covers collect sand between them and the coil producing false signals.
