Dangers of metal detecting - what dangers do you encounter or could when detecting

Pete in MI

New member
I will start the list here with:

Boaters drinking and driving their boats where people are in the water

Wolf spiders that seek out their victims (like the movie Arachnophobia)

Ticks that can cause Lyme Disease

Swimmer's Itch

Those are probably the worst ones where I am located. What dangers or problems do you encounter.

They say an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. This might give some people to think of dangers and how to protect themselves and save getting hurt or worse.

sharp objects in the hole, or in the sand/water.
Bees
dogs
People (in bad neighborhoods)
heat and dehydration
and there is plenty more..........

Sun burn.
Breaking your digging tool and not having a back up.:bouncy:

Bumble Bees

Lost Metal Rake, tines up!

Strange dogs and people that don't act right and sharp objects....picked up a lot of them in the kids school and play grounds and parks! Broken glass, cut aluminum cans...SLAW! Yellow Jackets, wasps, hornets, bees or anything that stings...even sweat bees....boy they sure do hurt! Sweating too much and getting salt in my eyes...which stings like fire! Falling in a hole...like I did once during a club hunt and had a very sore and swollen ankle and foot for quite some time! Strange areas where I haven't been before with or without someone and don't know who the people are there, whether good or bad, soooo Ma never went to the really older parks any more, as they are in the bad areas of the city and county! Need to have plenty of water and first aid kit in case of snake bites, allergic reactions to stings and wear gloves for protecting hands against all those sharp objects...even hypodermic needles...found where they never should be!

Happy hunting everyone! Be good and be watchful of your surroundings and pray always and you will be protected by Jesus and kept safe from the dangers that lurk and USE COMMON SENSE! :) God Bless! Betty

Like Jamie said, I had a storm come up on me fast today! Lightening!!!!!!:surprised:
