Found a slew of tokens at the fairgrounds, "freedom" with a shield and bird, other side "no cash value" probably 6" deep average. Got any idea if these are recent or? Thanks

In the text "Video Arcade, Pinball, Slot Machine, And Other Amusement Tokens Of North America" (1984) by Stephen P. Alpert & Kenneth E, Smith, they list several versions of this type of token under the category Manufacturer's Stock Arcade Tokens. These were used in arcades that didn't want to invest in having custom tokens made. This text gives a value of 25 cents to this type of token. They don't give a date but my guess is that they are from the video arcade days - late 1960s-early 1980s (some places may still be using them).

They are not old at all as in my 36 years of detecting I have only notice finding and seeing other finding them in the last 4 or 5 years. These are a little bigger than a quarter, but not too much as these are used in many arcade games for tokens only as quarters will fall out the return. I bought some tokens for some Japanese slot machines I had and got 250 new ones for $25 and all were like these with the eagle on them.
