DD coil on Ace 250

I have an ACE 250 with all three coils. I am thinking about adding the new 11" DD coil that comes with the ACE 350 rather than buying a new detector. I'm sure this has already been covered, but has anyone tried the new coil on the 250 yet? If so, what were your results? I've heard that the new coil isn't that great on the 250.

I can't answer this question as an actual user of a 250 with the 350 coil, but I do have a 350, and from what I understand, other than extra iron discrimination and a slightly higher frequency, they are the same units. The 350's DD coil is great. I can hit a dime at 9" in clean soil. My guess is that you would be very happy with the DD coil on the 250.

I have bought the 10x14 DD elliptical coil for my ace 250,let me tell you it is a MONSTER on my ace.I have all but good things to say about it.This coil covers alto a ground and definitely goes a couple of inches deeper, from my experience you will need to swing the coil slightly faster over those questionable higher tone for some reason this coil to pick out those bottle caps that will show in the 25 cent range,pin pointing took a little bit of practice to zero in and as for the weight you will get used to it at first it seems a little heavy but it's not too bad.But if your in a trashy area this will go berserk and will be difficult to isolate any good finds if there foil or type of metal nearby.

I have two Ace 250's, and both are fitted with the new Garrett 8.5 x 11 DD coils. I conducted some testing and comparisons, and the results can be found in the following thread.

Unfortunately due to the weather and a family illness, I have not been able to field test the new coils. As soon as I can get out again, I will update the original thread with the results.

Thanks, I look forward to a field test, but from the air test results it looks like a good deal as long as you can run at the same or higher sensitivity. I had heard somewhere that in some instances the sensitivity had to be lowered enough that it negated the extra depth that should be gained. Again thanks for the info.
