Ddetecting Sandbars

We have a number of rivers in this part of the country that have large sandbars showing along the shoreline, especially in the summer. Has anyone detected these before? I am thinking about hunting the sandbars next to where roads cross the river thinking people may have swum here over the years.

No question that would be a good location to hunt. Don't for get old swimming holes (we went skinny dipping and change would be lost from our pockets) and places where people fish from the bank. You would be surprised at what I have found around boat launching ramps. HH TomB
