Dead Exterra 705

desert bud

New member
I have had my Exterra 705 for a few years and recently when I tried to turn it on nothing happened. ( dead ) I always remove the batteries when I won't be using it. So I put new batteries in after testing and cleaned the contacts. Does anyone know if there is a fuse inside or what the problem could be?

No fuse...Don't open it up if you bought it new, you should still be with in the 3 year warranty. I would keep looking for good contact with batteries.

Hi, I have a 505. I now sometimes there is a battery contact problem. Seems if you drop the batteries in, after awhile the spring contact's will compress. I have never had this problem, I slide mine in gently side ways. you would have to use thin needle nose pliers to gently lift the springs. Look up this procedure on this forum search, or look it up on the web. good luck.:detecting:

I had to clean the contacts on mine one time, I went to put fresh batteries in and it would not turn back on, I first thought I had them in wrong, But they were in right. I used a Eraser on a pencil to clean the contacts down in the box. All was find after that.
