Decided on etrac (questions on coils)

New member
Hello all,
Just decided on the etrac, I have read some posts and need some advice on coils etc... (Bryce had mentioned in a reply to my last post that he has success with the sef 10x12 butterfly, has any one used the new x5 ( i beleive by sunray) I live in Indiana so the ground has alot of clay. Also should I get the sunray x-1 probe.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Thanks
Dan

start with original 11pro its very good coil and lighter then sef10X12 and possible better... use any portable pinpoint for start like garrett they are very good, because sunray probe will add weight to your etrac and will make less reliable construction...like cables and switches and etc. plus you will have to send your upper shaft for installation..and for start forget about small coils I never use them, but maybe I am exception. anyway with original coil you can make wonders. good luck

Hey big,
I have and use both the stock pro coil and the SEF 10x12. The SEF is slightly heavyer but both coils work well for me. I have gravitated to the SEF as I really like the oval type shape when swinging as I feel like I am more carfull with the sweep. I get great depth, sensitivity and seperation and on top of that...it's cool looking which I like as its a little intimidating for the spectators (hehe)
If I was tight on cash I would be fine with the pro coil. It is easy for me to pinpoint with and sometimes just know where the target is by the sweat spot at the tip but you will get used to any coil you use a lot.

Hope that help,

Learn with the stock coil and then time to experiment...you are going to fast so slow down lest you get lost before you start...

Sun-ray makes the best pinpointer but its pricey and adds more bulk and weight to your unit and many use hand held pinpointers.

Do go in your backyard and practice pinpointing as it can be a bear to become proficient but those that practice usually have no problems and Andy's book is a plus...

Dan,

Was gonna PM you, but neither of us has PM privileges yet.....email me at havedetectorwilltravel@gmail.com and I'll give you my opinion - I have both machines and I'll reveal where the best buy is right now on these machines.
