I found a 1883 indian head pennie at 13 inches with the mx5 and was wondering is this a common depth for this machine

What settings you runnin odj?
That kind of depth could be possible with a larger coil, what coil are you running?
I use the 5.3 Eclipse most of the time and get 8" on dimes. That is with my Coin mode settings of close to max sens....one tone, first three notches of iron notched out with a good ground balance over clean ground using the pumping method.

I just had it in coin and it had the stock spider coil.. I love this machine.
Really? That's a wowser. I was tickled with my 8" dime!!
