Deepstar for prospecting

Would a Deepstar I modified to the specs of a Deeepstar II be useful as a land gold nugget detector in VERY highly mineralized ground? My impression is that Eric designed this as a beach/jewelry detector. Am I wrong?

Hi Kenneth,
The Deepstar was designed primarily as a beach detector for rings, jewellery and coins. It will work on land, but would not cope well in a high iron mineralised situation. Its sensitivity to small nuggets is limited by its minimum sample pulse delay of 25uS. About 0.5 grams would be the smallest you would find, depending on the gold's composition.
Eric.
