Deepstar update......

Eric I can say for sure that the probe on the new Deepstar3 is just fantastic not to mention the rest of the whole machine. I have used it quite a bit more over the last few weeks and am now starting to get the hang of it. It is quite a bit different in some ways than my Aquasearch and definately has more "horsepower". I'm finding it is very sensative to radio interference and I find I have to tune it way down on some beaches just to make it tolerable and there is one particular beach that I can't even use it on as it just goes nuts. But I have no complaints.
I have just started to work one of the beaches where a 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet ship went down and fortunately I can run it wide open with no problem. As I said before the probe is invaluable when it comes to deep signals as you get down in a deep hole and it's hard to tell exactly where your target is so you just poke that probe way down in there and bingo you can zero right in on it. It's also handy for finding super small objects on the surface once you dig them up. So many times it will be a small brass swivel or link from a chain or something and you just cannot see it to save your life, so grab the probe sweep it over the sand and bam....there it is.
So thanks Eric for making such a super machine and I'll continue to post finds and feedback as time goes on.

By the way the picture of the deep hole wasn't even at the bottom yet, I ended up going down a good 3' to find that old car part and the funny thing was it sounded like it was only down about 6".

The silver Job pendant was found this morning down about 6" and it just about blew my ears off!

Hi Mike,

If you were working between Vero beach and Sebastian Inlet, it might be off the car I lost on the beach in 1968. Tried driving on the sand, which was OK until I stopped. It then sank up to its axles. Got help from a garage with a tractor, but the waves were breaking over the roof by the time we got back. He said he'd lose the tractor too, so we had to leave it. Shame as it was a nice car - a '56 Dodge Challenger. Bought it for $15. Everything worked, just had to get a puncture repaired and we were on the road; for a while anyway.

Pleased to hear you like the Deepstar 3 with probe. Let us know if you find any Spanish coins.

Have you tried adjusting the frequency control to get rid of interference?

Eric.

Eric, that adjustment does seem to help slightly in some areas but in general I just have to bring the range back from max until it calms down. I even have trouble with my Minelab Explorer on that beach.
Was that story about your car true? If so maybe it was a piece but I was a bit south by the southern most wreck the "Nieves" where that beautiful gold and emerald ring was found a couple weeks ago. You can be sure I'll be hollering if anything Spanish looking comes forth.

Thanks,
Mike T.

Hi Mike,
Could the interference on that unworkable beach be mineralization?
There's a beach near me where a $25k (USD) diamond ring was lost some years ago, and hardly anything will work there, and if it does, its usually only 2-4 inches depth (Explorer/Sovereign) My Goldquest and mono coil is unusable, continual wha-wha-wha  but with a DD coil she runs sweet as, I can even get down to 10us delay with SAT on minimum.

I'm hoping for that big rock one day :smoke:

Cheers

Kev, the sand here in South Florida is all pretty low in mineralization and it's really this one beach in particular. There is an active coast guard Loran transmitting tower about 3 miles from this beach and I've been thinking this may be the culprit. Most other beaches are good.

Are you in the UK Kev....if so where at? I have a similar ring that's been eluding me for about 6 mos. off Ft. Lauderdale beach. It's a 2 carat diamond in a platinum setting and worth quite a large sum. I hope to locate it before summers end with the Aquasearch. I'll keep you posted.

Mike T.

Hi Mike,
Right, I'm sure I've seen other posts from time to time mentioning Loran. I'm down-under in Christchurch, New Zealand. I think the big rocks make them act a little differently to rings with only small chips in them, larger surface area to density, but just where they are more likely to drop out, still has me a little puzzled.

I hope you have much joy in your search.
And looking forward to hearing of your success.

Cheers
Kev
