Deepstar vs. Goldquest ss

I have a Deepstar and would like to know how the two machines compare for depth on gold rings of average size.Would like to have a more sensitive machine for small stuff so that i would be able to find more gold chains.
If the Goldquest ss is less sensitive to hot rocks does it pick up red brick or foil, and what is it like inland compared to the deepstar, what is the uk price for the Goldquest ss.
Thanks for any responces and good luck in the new year.

Hi James
I'm going through the comparison period myself and have been trying both machines on beaches throughout Wales and the West country.
My conclusions are that,if you have an old Deepstar you will gain from a move to the Goldquest SS. (by old I mean pre SAT and low power mode).
Amazing sensitivity in a package half the size and weight. Depth on large items is slightly less than the Deepstar but on smaller rings/chains etc its better. Foil remains no problem but red bricks do respond, worse than with a Beachscan but no worse than a Deepstar and its another situation where the SAT really helps. You just have to love that S.A.T. !
I have been digging many small (childrens) rings both gold and silver and thin section engagement rings and fine chains off beaches where the sand has hardly moved since the thousands of detectorists stripped them during the foot and mouth.
I can't really fault the S.S. No drop in performance if quality rechargables are used and a very good battery life. Would be nice if it had on board recharge like the Deepstar but I can live without that.
If you have the latest Deepstar then its a more difficult decision. More brute force, slightly wider search pattern,rechargable/charger included and the low power/double detecting time feature is a real life saver. You get that lovely SAT as per the S.S. which really helps identify rubbish and balances back the slightly worse pinpointing of the Deepstar.
I will try both on land and see how they compare there and drop you a line.

Can anyone tell me how the Whites surfmaster pi pro. compares to the Goldquest SS and also what
price is the Goldquest in uk?

Hi George
Always liked the build/finish and design of the Whites and the mods to the Pro version did improve it. Its not a Goldquest though, so bearing in mind the S.S. costs
