Deepstar...who here has one?

What's the story on the Deepstar? Who has one? How do you like it? And how much $$ do they cost?
Thanks!
Gary

I have one. I *love* it. I bought it from Mr. Bill a few years ago and after buying it didn't use it much. I was under the impression that it was like the Surfmaster PI I had, only it would go a little deeper. Boy, was I wrong!
The Deepstar is quite a machine. It goes *deep* on low conductors. It's not a coin machine (unless you're looking for nickels), but it is a magnificent gold ring machine.
Check Mr. Bill's site for prices.

thanks Jeff. Have you ever fooled around with CZ's? What do you think about them?

Yes, I've played a little with CZ's, there's a couple things I don't like about them for beach hunting - the silent search, and the tendency to make deep nails sound like a good target, and they don't seem to handle the mineralized sands here where I am as well as my Sovereign or PIs.
They work well though for gold on land (without the salt switch turned on, but it's always on on the cz20).

Let's go hunting Russ!
A friend and I hit a spot up in SF a few weeks ago, we both did quite well, although he spanked me in the parks, getting a walking half and 6 other coins out of *one* hole! My poor sovereign couldn't get more than about 3 inches depth in that park, either the soil or interference were bothering us, but his old Whites did the job nicely. Oh well, you can't win 'em all
I'm looking forward to storm season for the beach runs!

Hi Jeff,
Give your Deepstar a go in the park sometime. PI's are normally thought of as beach machines because of their ability to cope with salt mineralisation, but they can also do well inland in certain situations. I have got loads of coins out of parks and woodland in the past but a small coil would be better. I would use an 8in, or even a 6in in cluttered areas. Pinpointing would be spot on and even the smaller coil will give 9 - 10in on a nickel.
Eric.

Interesting thought Eric, maybe worth a shot in some of the cleaner parks. I'm sure there's some older gold out there that's been out of reach of the VLF machines
