Deleon sniffs out first ring of the year

Got out for a short hunt yesterday, little over an hour hit at a old home site I had been eyeing for awhile and just got the a ok to dig there. At first I was digging lots of junk tin cans and stuff so I cranked up the discrimination to just over iron and was hitting less tin but still not many good targets then I found my first coin a mid 70's penny than a early 70's quarter I was about to call as the wind came up and it was blowing cold I decided to hit a stretch of grass I knew was once the back yard. About midway through it I got a solid silver signal I dug a short way down and out popped a old silver ring missing the stone not great but not bad either The Deleon and I found 21 rings last year using both the stock coil and the cleansweep coil which was just 4 shy of my best year of 25 rings. I have hopes of beating that this year but I am going to hunt alot more older sites so I don't expect a real high ring count but your never know

Nice going.

It looks like you're doing really well with the Deleon. I can't wait to hit the sports fields with the Deleon/CleanSweep combination.

I second that notion... If things go well, I might even send the Deleon the the CSC back to Tesoro and have them tuned to one another.

Woo you find 25 rings a year? thats beond my minds ability to think of . ,lets see how i do with the outlaw

Hi Phinbolt.

At what point of depth do you find the DeLeon TID accuracy start to fail?

Most detectors I have seen start to lose accuracy after 6".

with the cleansweep coil it is not as accurate but I have not had it tuned to the D but I would say at about 4-6" range with the stock coil I would guess about the 6-8" range but it goes very deep for silver I have dug mercury dimes at over 8" and knew it was silver before I dug it every ring I have dug has been on dry land that is well over 100 rings gold or silver only last year I dug my deepest ring to date it was a gold ring at over 5" deep

How is the Deleon doing after its check up (what was it 8 years) by Tesoro.
Can you tell much difference or are you having to do a little relearning after having gotten used to its idiosyncrasies over time.

Thanks for your answer Philbolt.

You said one thing that got my attention again.

You said: " I have dug mercury dimes at over 8" and knew it was silver before I dug it."

Can you give me alittle more detail as to what you meant by that?

Thanks!

phinbolt,

You are off to a good start:thumbup: I hope you beat your record, only 25 more to go! My wife and I are liking our Deleon, we have a Troy X 2 Super 7 coil on it and the D does good in the iron nails.
