Delta 4000 Need Input

Thinking on a new Delta 4000 for my wife. She is pretty new to the detecting hobby and will be hunting coins and jewley. Would like some input from users on this detector. Thanks in advance. Joe

Bought one at Bass Pro for my wife. Has not used it yet but for the money from what I have read it is hard to beat. I use an Omega with DD coil. Only paid 200 for mine in overstock at back of store I shop. Macon, Ga.

I have had one for about a month. First time out was a kiddy park, where I dug everything. 2 hours and a pocket full of trash later I knew a few things.

1. That park was hunted out. (only found 35 cents, and VERY little trash)
2. The TDI is very accurate. If it says it's a dime, it's a dime.
3. Run with the sensitivity about halfway up. I had no trouble with interference, but some have reported false indications under power lines.

My next hunt was for a silver ring which was lost by one of our executives at work.

Overall, I like it. I traded a Garrett GTA 1000 (which cost me $700.00 when new) and I think the Delta is every bit as good / capable as the Garrett.

It runs at 6.5 khz, so it's not going to hit very hard on gold; but how often do you really see gold in the field?

It's a fine coinshooter, and would probably do well as a relic hunter.

It's really light. A woman could swing this all day, and so far I have about 10 hours on the single 9V battery, and the MD still shows 4 bars on the battery strength indicator. Most reviews say that you can expect 25 hours usage from a good alkaline battery.
