DELTA 4000 QUESTION

joe dirt_1

Active member
I have been looking and reading about the Delta 4000 and it seems to be a good detector from the responses owners have posted about it. My problem is if I buy a Delta I will have to sell my Silver

I agree with Bart. Monte will be able to answer that question to your satisfaction.

to consider the types of detecting we plan to do, then acquire a detector that can satisfy our needs and help achieve our goals. Most 'average' hobbyists can find a lot of coins and other small targets, such as jewelry or buttons, ... or even the annoying junk. I am also a strong fan of an avid user learning their detector well and advancing to a more featured model and also owning two or more detectors. That way a typical 'Hobbyists' (as I consider them) can advance to the level of an avid 'Detectorist' (a devoted detector user who learns as much as possible) and be able to apply their experience to their benefit.

Certainly, we all need to start at a point that is affordable to get to learn just what 'metal detecting' is all about. there are some inferior detectors on the market in a lower price range, and there are some better ones, too. perhaps the best of them all, in the under $300 price range, that provides reliable performance is the Teknetics Delta. Am I biased? Yes, but that is mainly because I use them and know their capabilites.

Naturally, you might read a Tesoro Forum and get favorable responses about the Silver

Monte,
Thank you for the detailed response about the detectors. I'm interested in the Delta for a coin and jewelry hunter for residential yards and as back up detector to my CZ5 Fisher. I've been detecting for over 30 years and used mainly Fisher detectors for many years, but have used 3 Garretts detectors
that I didn't care for, and several Tesoro detectors that I really liked for their light weight and simplicity of use. One of my main concerns about the Delta is the build quality compared to the Silver

Roger, you know the old adage, "you get what you paid for." That's definitely NOT the case when it comes to the Delta 4000. With all the technology that's packed into it - and all that it can do, it's a real bargain and perfect for coin and jewelry hunting. Right now it's my primary and with all the fun I'm having with it... with all the silver it's finding (as well as a little gold), I'm in no rush to upgrade! MickTwin

thanks Mick, glad to hear you are having fun with the Delta. It sure sounds like the Delta is a capable coin hunter.

Roger,

Thanks for responding. I appreciate that.

Glad to try and help. There will be times, and I can guarantee you of it, that even as a 'back-up' unit, you will find yourself grabbing the Delta for quite a few sites even though it wasn't your initial intention. Of the earlier Fisher CZ models, I preferred the CZ-5 to all others, and I have owned an original CZ-6, one modified to a 6a, three CZ-5's, a CZ-70 and 70 Pro, and the worst of them all (my opinion based upon terrible performance) was the CZ-3D.

With 30 years of using quality detectors that should give you an 'edge' over any newcomer, to be sure. It was 30 years ago this summer that I parted ways with garret, as they made their circuitry design changes, and I went with a different VLF/TR-Disc. model. Two years later I switched to using Tesoro's for most uses that were trashy, and relied on the 4-filter White's models for open-area searches.

I do hope Garrett will strive to move the AT Pro features on with a better land-based detector.
