Delta 4000 Question

Is it possible to mount the Delta 4000 control box to the Omega 8000 shaft (atop the handle)? I would think the ergonomics of the Omega shaft would be improved over the Delta's. I like the looks of the Omega but am on a Delta budget. I haven't seen this shown anywhere on the web and thought I would ask. Thanks for any info on this subject!

I certainly can't argue the fact that they are very light weight. I just bought the Delta today and had seen the different type handle on the Omega and was just curious if the Delta box would fit on the Omega handle.

I'm sure it would... and could kick myself for throwing out my broken (for years) Fisher 1260-X a few months before I bought my Delta. I would have tried it (putting the Delta on the 1260-X handle). That would just be for fun, however, because the Delta's stock handle is just fine for me!

I certainly appreciate the help on this subject! The handle on the Delta suits me just fine, I was just wondering if it could be done. Take care and happy hunting!

I'm fairly sure the only way to do what you're talking about is to acquire the rear half of the control housing for any of the greek series (or even the Bounty Hunter Titanium series) that are designed to be grip mounted instead of rod mounted. My prototype Gamma is a grip mount configuration and I think FT just used the BH Platinum rear housing as that detector was the first unit (and only one at that time) of that platform to be grip mounted.

Even though I somewhat answered your original question, I honestly don't think it's worth messing with. Both setups have pluses and minuses. The main thing is at the end of the day with any of the Greeks, comfort is equal IMO.

I really like the feel of the "s" mounted units and they are also about 6 ozs. lighter than the 8000. I would not try that one.

Thank you all for your suggestions, perhaps it wouldn't be worth my while to change it after all.

Thanks again, Lando-1
