Delta 4000 wet beach sand

Does anyone know anything about the Delta 4000? just wondering if it would operate well in salt water wet sand on south Florida beaches. There's no black sand on south Florida beaches. Thanks in advance.

Somebody here used the Alpha on a Florida beach and could go up to 2 bars of sensitivity on the wet sand. Not bad at all. I guess the Delta would be in the same league.

HH, Eric.

I used my friends 4000 on land and on the beach. Great on land and dry sand. This detector has a fixed ground balance and didn't cope well in the highly mineralized wet sand. This was in Maryland.

in most applications. Most of the time, here in NW Oregon, I am hunting inland. No problems. keep in mind the Delta is a more 'simple-to-use' detector. It has a factory preset Ground balance so there's no user adjustment, and for dealing with the very low conductive wet salt environment it only has a segmented Discrimination adjustment so you can't 'fine-tune' the Disc. level like you can with the Omega or T2, etc.

Still I have worked it with success on our iron mineralized Oregon beaches. The GB was sufficient, and I had to knock out the iron range in most conditions. Foil would have been next, but with a loss of some of the smaller and thinner gold jewelry.

Is it my best choice for a wet salt beach? no, but it worked for me on most of the beach. Then I have to tell you that while the Oregon beach is not that far away, I am not a beach fan. I'd rather head east to some drier country and hunt old towns sites and camps, or hit the coast range to hunt old logging camps. Still, the Delta is a good detector and I look forward to hearing your report on how well it performs for you. Also, remember that it is a 2-filter type slow-sweep detector so don't get going too fast as you might lose some signal loss on desired jewelry.
