Depth and pinpoint on SE questions

grumpy

New member
Hello All
Would all you kind people let me know some info on the new SE, I have. I have been using a Ex.II about two years and the new Se seems to have two things : First the pinpoint is like a siren going louder to center instead of the Ext buz > Is this right?
Second the depth on the std 10 factory coil with the SE seems to be off. I get a 8 to 10 inch reading and its only 4 : I could be off on how high im swinging but I dont think I changed from the Ext II and it read closer.?? Any info or thoughts appreciated.
The SE definately is faster on the processor recovery too.
Thanks loads

PS> I guess I am confusing myself again. What I was asking about the pinpoint is not how easy it is to use. I have no problem using the pinpoint it is that it has a different sound than the EX II more a siren noise is this norman. Both machines seem to pinpoint easily except for the depth question > I have had some coins pinpoint and read 8 inches and be in the topsoil and others read four inches and be about four inches. It seems there is an agreement on this they do that. Are the 8 or other size coils still off on the depth issue?
Thanks again for all the help it is allways apreciated.

The pinpoint is far superior to the older explorer xs and 2. I can pinpoint a coin spot on. Depth readings seem to vary acording to the weather with the se! . A few days ago i pinpointed a buried coin which is at 4.5 inches ther depth said 9 inches , yesterday the same coin gave a depth reading of 6 inches.

I have read a few reports and reviews on the internet with users of the SE saying that the pinpoint is not good , for the life of me i can't understand how anyone with even half a brain cell has trouble getting decent pinpoint coin accuracy with the SE. Its as good as the whites in my opinion and they are pretty good pinpointers as any one who has used one knows. Yes the explorer xs and 2 pinpoint was no good. The SE pinpoint is miles better.

I find the pinpointing to be right on , i was having troulbe with it , thought it was at the center of the shaft , but i learned to center the highest tone in the center of the coil ,then pull it back slowly until it fell off and it was right at the front of the coil , 25 out of 26 hits , it was right on and allways got a target , seems good to me , but i'm a newbe on the se and am still learning the tones and the all metal setting , but it;s working out for mewe i think , thanks to the great advice i;ve gotten here .
