Detecting blues....can the ETPro cure them? :stars:

Going a bit nuts. My wife has been ill the last few months and my treasure hunting time has been severely limited because of it. Trying to figure out how to steal a few mintues to myself here and there.

I have about decided to put and leave the ETPro in the truck so I can take a few minutes for myself here or there as time permits. I figure 15 minutes here or there is better than trying for a couple of hours every other week or so.

I have a nice Teknetics backpack to keep it all stored in so it doesn't roll around or get all beat up. Even bought a 5x10" DD to put on it so I could use it nearly everywhere.

Anybody had any issues with storing a detector in their automobile ?

Sorry to hear about your Wife...hope she gets well soon...regarding your question, I have left the F70 outside in my vehicle for over three years now...year round...sub zero into 90degree..outside temps... I try to make sure the windows are slightly down if its hot out, and I also toss a towel over it just to mainly keep it out of view. And yes, a fellow can do right good just opportunistically picking in 15 min bursts...I also leave the AtPro out in the car, and I sometimes wonder about the controls being waterproof and all, taking it out of a hot car and jumping in the water with it, might cause some sort of pressure reversal that the machine cant tolerate, but so far no problems.
I know a lot of guys would tell you that these are complicated sensitive electronics and should be better taken care of..but in my experience so far, no problems at all.

I put my F5 in the house and put the ETPro in the car. No problems yet.

Mike, hope your wife gets well soon. I've not used my vehicle as a detector storage facility, but do keep it in my vehicle for days on end and thus far have had no problems. And, it gets pretty hot here in the summer time. good luck and a prayer coming your way. HH jim tn

Thanks Mud. If the F70 doesn't have any problems then the ETPro shouldn't have any problems either. I'll keep it in the backpack and out of sight so it should ride ok. Though I think I'll take it out when we get into the real cold weather. Some of my detectors are special to me, like the F5 and my ETPro and I don't want to damage them unnecessarily. Do you take the batteries out?

Nope. The F5 is still the best. But I do like the ETPro in iron trash.

In my case, it is sort of gone beyond the spectrum of maintenance/care. These tools are getting daily workouts in all sorts of weather and have shown no ill effects at all..which is good...I suppose other sensitive electronics are out in all sorts of weather too, like a fish finder on a boat, or even the radio in the car..anyway, I sure hope you can get out and find a little.

Mike, I take the batteries out if I know one of my detectors isn't going to be used for 3 or 4 weeks. I have been working with another detector the past month +, so I finally took the batteries out of the LTD. I have never had a problem with batteries leaking, but rather safe then sorry. Good luck! Hi Mike,
So sorry to hear about your wife and her illness...hope that things improve in the future.
Regarding leaving or storing detectors in the car.... I made up a few bags/covers made of bubble wrap (a very good insulator) and I slip one of these over the head of the detector...I then put an old blanket over that to keep the sun off. If I can, I leave a window slightly open (and with my current vehicle I have a sliding skylight which I leave slightly open if it doesn't look like rain), anything you can to reduce the temp inside the car during hot days...e.g. parking in the shade, even if it means walking a bit further to the park etc.

Remember that you have to look after yourself to be able to look after your wife...taking a little time off for yourself is important (even 2-3 hrs per week). Take care. Pete
