I'm Bob in outback Australia, I hunt gold with my old SD2100 & yep I do find some :thumbup:

I HEAR ALOT OF BLOKES SAY THAT THE 2100 AND THE 2200 MINELABS ARE JUST AS GOOD AS THE NEW GPX-4000,IS THIS RIGHT?GLAD TO HAVE YOU ON THIS FORUM.WELL,MATE I AM FROM TEXAS:csflag:AND THERES NO GOLD IN THIS STATE,THERES FIVE DIFFERENT REGIONS AND SOME LIKE AUSTRALIA.IF BY CHANCE YOU GET TIRED OR BORED OF PICKING ALL THOSE NUGGETS,SEND THEM MY WAY HA,HA,HA:yikes:

Yep the old SD2100 still gets gold, not sure about if its on par with the new 4000 ?
The biggest worry for me as I detect alone far away from anyone is not being able to lift that huge nugget out of the hole when I find it !

We get some big ones down under, record is a nugget over 2200 oz all gold .
Now you can see how hard that would be to lift :help:

:clapping:good mercy,it would be worth a trip there for 2200 oz nugget!!what year was this found?and by all means what kind of detector found it?:minelab:no doubt?and to think all iam finding lately is:pulltab::pulltab::pulltab:getting sick:thumbdown:about it.good luck don't forget to put me in your will for a 2200 oz nugget,you will not regret it:please:
 
That big one was not 2200 oz but 2316 troy ounces, it was found in 1869 in the state of Victoria.
The nugget was 18 inches long by 16' & 16' thick, it was only 2 inches deep !

The biggest found with a detector ( not a minelab ) is 875 troy ounces, also found in Victoria at about 6 inches deep, its called the Hand of Faith & is now on display at the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas.

If you look at the size of Australia there are vast gold fields that detectors have yet to sweep, but some ground is so hot ( mineralised ) that even my SD2100 could not ground balance.
