Detector case

Paul (IA)

New member
Hi,
It's been a while since I have posted but need some advice. I will be taking a trip to Surfside Florida in November and need a case to transport my detector. We will be flying so it need to be tough enough to withstand luggage handling. As usual, any input is appreciated. This will be my first attempt at beach hunting and I am very excited.
Thanks
Paul

I'll try again.
#1 take batteries out so as not to cause beeping noises and trouble in the aircraft.
#2 See #1
#3 Honestly, do not bring sealed battery pack. I had a "situation" once in Orlando that was only resolved when I opened the battery pack and showed harmless AA batteries, not a sealed pack. The one exception was July 2004 in the Dominican Republic when all my batteries were confiscated - for personal use I am sure.
#4 I only carry on my explorer, I never check it in baggage. Take coil off lower shaft and fold it over on itself. Upper shaft comes loose, and main housing fits nicely along with the rest in a carry-on suit rolling bag.
#5 No digging tools in carry on!!! I learned this the hard way also. Luckily it was a local municipal airport and the gal knew me. I had a very large hunting knife in my bag and she looked at me kind of funny like. I totally forgot and said, "oops I think I need to check something." and I skated.
#6 If you follow #1-5 you will be fine. I used to travel weekly for a couple of years with no problems
#7 Good luck!
