Deus controller problem

Tried to install what I believed was the new 4.1 version update into my Deus controller today and when it got to installing the coil it wouldn't take the update. So I disconnected the USB from the remote and the UPDATE screen stays on all the time. It will not power off or do anything no matter what button I press.

When I hit the back button the UPDATE screen goes away momentarily but comes right back on. I had to physically disconnect the internal battery to get the remote to power off...however...when I try to power it on again it goes right to the UPDATE screen again. This means I had to physically disconnect the internal battery again to power off the remote to keep from running my battery down.

Help! Is there a reset for the unit somewhere? Now when I try to run the update again it says that it doesn't recognize the remote controller!

What did I mess up????

BTW...the WS4 puck still works with the coil as normal. Got any ideas?

Lost...

Don't think there is any user or quick fix for your issue, the software version you used was intended for testing purposes, not for public release.
Might have to send it back to XP, or at least they would be my first point of contact on the issue.

I did the same install of beta 4.1 this morning and probably downloaded it from the same site and the link that was offered as you.

When I installed beta 4.1 on my windows 10 pc.
It did however detect the puck and the 11 inch coil and they were ultimately installed.

After I unpluged the USB cable the controller was acting up. Stange on screen behavior, almost like a continuous detecting loop of a signal

Restarted the main controller and I set the 9 inch in manually and after all that it , the puck and the 11 inch all works perfectly well.

Not always a good idea to disconnect during any update , unless of course as we are instructed to do so (the case in the updates form me since 3).
I'm not to cluey on ever disconnecting the battery though.

Have you simply gone through the motions again and followed the instructions again with the update to 4.1 and just let it install what it can initially?

As a precaution before you redo this restart your pc.

Hope I've helped

David Di

You do not uninstall the software, simply go to the XP main site and install V4.0 . . . it overwrites what is currently installed

Got in touch with Moe at Detector Electronics and found out that my Dues controller was still under warranty. Sent off the controller August 1st and just got it back today (Aug 7th) repaired and ready to go with 4.0 installed. What a great turn-a-round time...and she works perfectly! It's great to deal with such a great group of fine folks! Thanks to everyone who assisted me with my stupid mistake.

Beta is a term used to allow a software to be tracked methodically,. example "they are on beta 4.1 rev 2." that would mean the company releasing a software update is on its second iteration of software release 4.1. If you are a brave soul and know how to reinstall operating software and are willing to accept glitches and issues in-order to try out the latest features then Beta is a great way to help a manufacturer test out the next general release. If you had a friend set up your detector and its programs, I would suggest that you shy away and await for the next stable release of software for your unit. Even awaiting a few months after the stable release to ensure no further bugs are found.
