I went on a 4 hour hunt today. The Civil War site of the Battle of Hartsville Tn. This place I'm told has been pounded. Even had several group hunts come from the club in Nashville Tn. Over the course of 4 hours I found 13 nonferrous targets. I was running Deus as follows: Sens 94, Reactivity 1 silencer -1, Disc between 4 and 6.8, 12khz, 3 tone, tracking GB, 11" coil. One of the 13 was the end of a pull tab pretty shallow. The other targets had been in the location for years. Of the 12 remaining nonferrous targets all but one would only hit with a 2 way signal. And this 2 way signal wasn't always the best signal. I dug 2 old shotgun shell butts (very rusty-the rustiest I've ever dug), a good uniform button, 2 cannon fuses, 2 bullets., and some others I can't identify. I dug NO iron. Of the 12 targets if you would have placed your bet after sweeping 90 degrees over the target you would have bet deep iron. The audio would start breaking up severely and the screen numbers would be driven down to as low as 1 with the horseshoe having fits switching sides on the meter. I even had one gent swing (I won't say) flagship machine over most of the targets and he couldn't hear them unless he pinpointed or if he did hear them he said iron. The data his detector was showing him was a no dig scenario. To be honest I almost walked on the button, but something just sounded too good to leave. The iron meter on my deus was showing a little over halfway on the coil bobbing. I checked this in about 4 different locations (over 300 ft in between spots I checked). There were high voltage power lines that crossed the field in one end. And not the regular power lines like in neighborhoods the bigger ones. I had a blast and look forward to going back to this site. I think the gent with me eyebrows were raised a few times today. This place may possess a gold coin. The way I see it every target I dug today could have been the elusive gold coin. There is no telling how many coils went right over the top of my finds I found today over the course of the last 44 years. The old Deus is for real. Easy on the ole shoulder and arm too.
