Deus in Iron Mineralized Ground anyone?

Hey Guys,

I've been up on the Deus for a few years here in Europe and am quite familiar with it. I know it does well in bad ground (in general). But, until I got the E-Trac it was hard for single frequency machines to get past 7". Even my V3i had problems there. So far I can get 9" in this ground easy with the E-Trac. I know depth isn't everything, trust me, I realize that, but it is just fun to dig some coins at depth for me.

Do any of you know how the Deus is in iron mineralized ground in particular (at depth)? My Omega said it was mild iron (1 or 2 bars if you know the Omega). The V3i said the ground was 1%-3% but with a VID of -93 or so (which means of that % the iron was VERY high).

I'm asking cause, as much as I love the E-Trac, my back and elbow don't! A lot of Deus users here in Europe are ex E-Trac users for similar reasons.

Thanks,
Albert

My ground is very close to yours and I am also curious about how the DEUS ID's targets when they are deeper than average. Hunting with my Explorer I find the deepest dimes I can get on an everyday basis is close to 10" but never deeper. One of my other detectors will show targets higher than they really are when they are deep. I wonder if the Deus will do the same thing. Targets like small lead balls show real high coin readings but when out of the hole they will only show maybe nickel but sometimes closer to foil.

Southernexplorer - Yeah, I think my limit is near yours (at least with a reasonable VID and sound). I have found quite a few coins at 9" (not silver) and that is really pushing it. But quarter sized silver has rung out loud at 7" on both the E-Trac and V3i, so I think I can get those over 10" but maybe not.

John - it was a long time ago, don't remember. But I know I posted it somewhere on Finds. Have to search.

Found some old posts:

T2 GB 50-60, Fe3O4 3 to 4 bars (.1 - .3)
Omega GB 65, Fe3O4 1 to 2 bars

Hey,

I asked this about the iron dirt of Tennessee and Virginia. Got some responses that might benefit what you're asking here.

What I gathered from these posts was that it will do like other VLFs in iron soil....will still hit targets but it gives an iron signal beyond a certain depth.

Should work well if that was what your ground balance and bars read.

Thanks Daniel for the links. I hadn't read that second one before so it's nice to get more information and I'm sure a lot of guys with similar ground can find this all helpful.

Thanks woodchiphustler - I know the UK has some bad ground so am looking for some more reports being that my ground is not terrible but is iron mineralized.

It is clear the Deus has incredible separation, so the last question is just how deep it will go in ground similar to mine. I know depth isn't everything but the finds can be deep being that I'm in a really old country. So, if I can have one machine that does well in iron AND gets some depth, then that is what I will do.
