Deus measures up

Just got back from a metal detecting trip to England. There were 3 CTX 3030's, 2 E-tracs, 1 Explorer, 1 Tesoro, 1 Shadow 5, 1 Safari, 1 Fisher F75 and me with my Deus. I would say that nobody really out shined the other machines. Everyone found targets. I feel confident that if I went over a good target I got it. After reading my post on sweep speed, I will slow down in the future. The trick here seemed to be at the right spot at the right time as there did not seem to be concentrated areas of activity or targets. I was pleased with the depth I got on some incredibly small targets. I am still a long ways from mastering this machine, but I am learning something new each time I go out.
 
I just got back too - what I found was that myself and the other guy with the Deus were getting the smaller hammered / smaller bits using 18kHz. The Minelab's were getting larger items.
That's not to say that we didn't find our share of large silver plus greenies.
But the small bits were incredible. I got a tiny James 1 hammered silver half penny at about 4-6". The size is about 10mm - I couldn't believe how small this coin really is - I don't even understand how they used it as currency - it's just slightly larger than the size of an eraser head..
 
I'll have to definitely agree with you on finding the small items along with anything larger, even at depth. 18khz is just wildly small stuff. Really stuff probably no other detector can sound off on. Silver gold aluminum brass copper it makes no difference. I'm predominately a beach hunter and this machine is going to be a force to reckon with on the beach. It smokes my GT which has found it's way to the classifieds being replaced by the Deus.

WOW smokes GT. Is that in the wet sand? I can see it in the dry stuff but in the wet sand guess I need to ale mine to the beach if that is in the wet stuff.

I'm just learning my Deus and it is Impressing me every time I use it. In my first week with it I have found a good array of Clads at varying depths, a 1916 Wheat penny, a 1903 V Nickel, 3 cheap rings, A silver plated spoon, and a Silver Necklace. All were found in my normal Trashy very well searched sites. So yes the Deus does Measure up very well! GL & HH........Pat
