Deus underwater

Ok, so today I hooked up my coaxial cable antenna to the Deus, put the control unit in a waterproof case and off I went to the lake to try it out. It worked flawlessly, exactly the same as dirt fishing. The only problem occurred when the control unit was a few inches under water and the signal was lost to the headphones. Didn't have any extra cable with me to try attaching it to the control unit and extending it to the end of the upper shaft to see if that would produce a signal to the headphones. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how was it resolved, if it was resolved? Thanks

Waterproof earbuds

The earbuds come with the waterproof kit and sound great. Why take the chance of being chest deep and having things get a little unexpectedly wet (like a hole or a wave) and ruin your headset.?

What he said...
I use them and the do the trick.
Dropped the wife's phone in the water and it don't work no mo...
Wouldn't want that to happen with any part of my Deus.

I dont think it was ever really designed as a totally underwater machine, not the right tool for the job i dont think, the coax kit will give you the ability to use the coil underwater, but the high possibility of water leaking into the water proof box that houses the controller over time will kill it surely. You may get away with it for a while but would i risk binning a expensive controller the answer would be 'NO'.

You could use the current setup if you just would be using it for say the odd holiday trip very year, but if you do underwater detecting alot then get the right tool for the job,of course just my personal opinion, the controllers are not a cheap piece of kit.

Yes I agree. I have a dedicated water machine. Just wanted to experiment with the Deus to see if I could use it for a backup in case it would ever be needed.

All you have to use is longer coax cable to have it above the water attached to your shirt around neck area I use it all the time and it works.

Remeber, the sole purpose of the coax is to get the signal from the coil to the control unit or headphone. I use mine like a DetectorPro Headhunter unit where I run the coax up the shaft and directly to the over-the-head headphones . . . . works like a champ
