Did a master reset this morning

Did a master reset this morning.I did this because my detector is second hand I wanted to take it to the out of box condition. What I found was 2 screens calibration and master reset. I did it alright would not even consider touching calibration. I also believe and maybe im wrong this has done nothing to improve the machine the same result could be had by restoring each program. Im going out to my test garden now to see if its made any differences.

Interesting : Found a quarter and 2 dimes 67, 76 and the quarter was a 66. I have been over the yard several times do not know if this was a coincidence. Will not know if the detector is any better til I get to either a park or the beach as the soil in my yard is mild.

You are correct it made NO improvement. If you had touched the calibration the unit would be on it's way back to Whites. This was one of the reasons Whites eliminated this procedure from the forums.

It recovered my V3i after getting the thing on one or two occasions after it got totally hosed after 'experimenting with adjustments on the fly' a bit too much. All else failed besides sending it in for repair. I was REAL carefull It's been more than a year now since I felt a need to do it again. jm2c. martin

FYI, I found out in my test garden, via my new backup machine, a Whites's M6...the V3i's brain was whacky and had been for a long time. This new master reset, first in well over 6 months, was like a wake up to the V3i. I was on my knees digging in one of my parks lots more today, the V3i locking in on coins like it should. I know, I know...Whites does not condone the MR, but in my personal opinion, the V3i is highly susceptable to EPROM confusion when testing new settings, nature of the beast, and they don't always "clean up" by merely resetting back to what you just tried, the V struggles IMO. martin

If it works for you or you think it works that's all that counts. Whites has stated they feel it should not make a difference. Just so you are happy. I just wouldn't want people thinking it is a cure all. They had their reasons for us to pull the procedure from all the forums.
