Today, my 5th outing with my surfmaster PI, I suddenly found myself detecting targets in excess of 12 inches under. I measured one which was as deep as distance of the tip of my middle finger up to my elbow. Needless to say, I found a lot, including my first jeweley finds. Emphasis on "finds".
The only thing I noticed different from how I was using my machine from before was that I was stopping for signals that were hardly there. These signals were a mere whimper. They were only as loud as the regular tremble/threshold, but were repeatable. It was as if a sixth sense was telling me something was there. Some were so soft that I had to dig a couple of scoops out before I was actually sure that I was hearing a signal. It used to be that I only noticed signals that were "BONGS"! Now I can actually detect "hmmms".
Did I just get it? Is this how you guys detect with your PI's. I was so happy with my machine today, I actually was considering if I wanted that explorer II that is on its way. I'm still puzzled by my new ability to dectect these "hmmms". Happily puzzled that is.
