Did Minelab change the upper rod

on the Ex II since they first came out? I know the XS and II are different but I heard they changed something in the II since they were first released?.. If they are tighter I will need to get one as the new style lower rods wobble too much.. and I was told the old style lowers wont fit well in this "new" upper rod?
