Did U find anything cool the 1st day with your Explorer?

Dang

Active member
The first day with my Explorer I found a WL half dollar just while trying to figure out how to use the dang thing at a neighborhood park.
It was a pleasant surprise!
How about You! Did you have a nice surprise on your first hunt with your first Explorer?

Well not really  I was short of time and hit a local school for a testdrive. Its my first season with the Explorer but have found a few silver rings, a couple merc's, 45 and 37 D and a 1878 IH along with all the clad. Its still kinda early in the hunting season so hope to make some good finds. HH L8R

I went out with an experienced EX user, and he taught me some things that certainly shortened my learning curve.

So the next day I went back to a heavily pounded area, and had a ball! Lots of silver, IH's and wheats... including a 7-coin spill - 3 Barber quarters (1902, 1908, 1916) and 4 wheats in the same hole!

That was about 7 years ago, and I'll never forget!

here was my first 3 outtings with the explorer. love it!!! first 3 days had an 1941 merc, 1889, 1896, 1906 indian heads, and over 10 or so wheats. not bad!!! awsome machine!!

I just have to rub this in cuz its so incredible. I went out to see how my brand spankin new E trac worked. NO JOKE...I was out 5 hours and as I was walking back to the car I got a solid hit high tone and I had been digging all the numbers to see what they were like n testing its stuff out, just kinda running ammok if you know what I mean, I really didn't expect to find any thing great. Out from way down came TWO SILVER DOLLARS! you can go back on my posts and find the pics...I still cant believe it. So I just have to keep talking about it as its sooo crazy.
I hope that means I am lucky jinxed forever!
good luck to you.

I was lucky enough to have a friend tell me about the different detecting websites and i must say the people on here are really good folks.
I found this explorer site so Im happy. this is a good place.

when i first took my se out it seemed like all i could find were clad dime, everything was a clad dime, but man they were everywhere!

Yes I did, December 2000, just returned from Saudi Arabia and had a brand new Explorer XS waiting for me! Time to hang up the Garrett GTA 1000 and step into the new world of Minelab. After getting some settings to use from Beachcomber and the dealer, I headed out to one of my best sites that produced older coins in the past year or so and was rewarded with my first find in the first hour of using the XS.

The coin was not pretty, it was found in rather damp, acidic soil, but it was a beauty to me that day a 1806 Draped Bust Half Cent! I have never looked back and the same Explorer XS is still my detector today almost 9 and half years later and countless great finds!
