Didn't make it to church today...ice...ice...ice...ice

We sent an email to the church telling them we would not be able to make it....EVERYTHING was covered with a good layer of ice and it was raining lightly to add more wet to the ice to make more ice.

And of course Casey's Dad had to be pain to Casey so I ventured out to rescue her from her Dad. Sliding down the hill (we live over 100 feet above the lake) was scary...didn't know if I would be able to stop at the bottom. The main road to her Dad's was very icy and wet and luckily getting some slush from movement of the vehicles on the road.

After rescuing Casey we tried to get back up the hill...Steve (warthog) knows this hill...we got not even 1/2 way up the hill before we came to the point of not going forward...but instead started sliding downhill backwards. Glad I got a lot of training living in the U.P. of Michigan for 8 years. We made several attempts to get up the hill..there are 5 roads parallel to the one that goes straight up to our access road...and couldn't make it up any of them either.

Went to Wal-mart and spent some time walking around, getting some rock salt, something to eat as I had no breakfast yet. That was about 9 AM when I went down the hill (the first time) and we finally got back up the hill and home a little after 11 AM....and I only had a 10 mile journey (originally) round trip to get Casey and come back home.

Speaking of ICE my sister-in-law just mentioned if you have a cell phone you should put in an entry for ICE.

This entry would have an Emergency contact number of someone you would want an emergency medical technian (EMS), police officer, fire department to call if you are involved in an accident or other emeregency situation where you cannot call a relative, spouse, etc yourself.

So be safe and add and ICE entry with your spouse or other relative's phone number. If you have more than one person you want to have emergency people to contact use ICE, ICE_1, ICE_2, ICE_3, etc.

then made it to the top on the next attempt. There was some melting going on but now it is cold enough to start refreezing...and we now have a foggy mist falling to make it even more interesting...and I have to go get her from work at 7:30 PM (after dark here) and it will be interesting yet again...both going down the hill and back up...if we can make it.

If we can't I am not sure what we will do to get home...tooooo slippery to walk...especially up hill.

same here this morning Ice on the back roads and my drive way! The main roads are good.
ICE in the cell is a good idea! :) Heard that one a couple years back!
